Description

1933 Vernon "Lefty" Gomez Signed Uniform Player's Contract. His 1932 record of twenty-four and seven with 176 strike outs supplied the superstar southpaw with quite a strong negotiating base when it came time to discuss the terms of his 1933 contract, which we present here in its fully executed form. Gomez and team owner Jake Ruppert were able to agree upon a salary of $12,000 for the upcoming year, with each signing his consent to the terms at the close of the contract in 10/10 black ink (Ruppert's autograph secretarially signed by Ed Barrow). Gomez signs in his rare and desirable "Vernon Gomez" format. Witness E.G. Barrow has signed as well, another important Hall of Fame autograph applied with 10/10 boldness. Light wear is evident upon original storage folds, but paper remains solid and undamaged. In terms of autograph collecting, contracts are considered the absolute peak of desirability, and few could compete with a Yankees Hall of Famer model. Be sure to see the other contemporary New York Yankees contracts also offered within this auction. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
