Description
1953 Stahl-Meyer Franks Group Lot of (4). Note: The correct year of issue is "1953." SGC labels will be corrected by the time the cards ship to the high bidder. Stahl-Meyer Franks produced two of the more attractive, and scarce, regionally distributed baseball card promotions of the 1950's. The large, 3-1/4" x 4-1/2" dimensions may have been well suited to hot dog packages but have shown to be the bane of condition conscious hobbyists 40 years later. The heavy wax coating protected against grease (to some level) but not creasing. In that regard, these are nicer examples than usually encountered. If their limited circulation wasn't enough to hinder future availability, an offer on the reverse for two free baseball tickets certainly removed an untold number from public hands. The collection of scarcities includes: Hank Bauer (SGC A, a never circulated hand cut copy without die cut corners), Gil Hodges (SGC 40 VG 3), Monte Irvin (SGC 30 GD 2) and Duke Snider (SGC 40 VG 3).Auction Info
