Description

1926 Ty Cobb Single Signed Baseball. A tough playing-days autograph from baseball's first superstar. This would be the twenty-second and final season that the Georgia Peach would represent the Detroit Tigers, who fell to the Cleveland Indians this day in a seven to five loss at Tiger Stadium. Cobb's 6/10 sweet spot signature is preceded by a personalization that has faded into illegibility, but Cobb's handwritten "July 3 - 26" below his signature remains quite bold. The OAL (Johnson) ball shows a moderate degree of wear and has an odd scribble of red ink on the panel below Cobb's autograph that will be invisible upon display. Far more difficult (and appealing) than the majority of Cobb singles that date from the later years of his life. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
