Description

1978 Jim Rice Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9.5 - MVP Season! One of the most important Jim Rice bats extant, this specimen dates from the Hall of Famer's 1978 season when he led the junior circuit in a dozen major offensive categories, including WAR, games, plate appearances, at bats, hits, triples, Home runs, RBI, slugging, OPS, OPS+ and total bases. For his monumental effort, Rice was named the American League Most Valuable Player.

Dating from that historic campaign, the offered H&B model R161 measures 35.5 inches in length, weighs 33.8 ounces, remains uncracked and exhibits evidence of outstanding use, including numerous ball marks on the right/left/back barrel, cleat marks on the front/left barrel and slight checking on the back barrel. Additionally, the Hall of Famer's "14" is written on the knob in black marker. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 9.5 (1B37983).
