Description

1947 Ernie Banks Social Security Card from The Ernie Banks Collection. Presented is an early social security card that was owned by Ernie Banks. Born in 1931, Banks made his professional baseball debut with the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues in 1950, three years after this card expired. Known for his infectious enthusiasm, the man who coined "Let's Play Two" transitioned to Major League Baseball in 1953 with the Chicago Cubs. This card (5x3") has some surface loss to the bottom edge and with a vertical crease going down the middle, but presents well with eye appeal. An early and personal piece of Mr. Cub.
