Description

1991-92 Mike Piazza Game Worn Minor League Jersey. The 62nd round pick for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1988 draft, future Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza might never have had a shot at professional ball if not for his father's close friendship with manager Tommy Lasorda, who signed the twenty-year old as a favor. Presented is a road grey jersey worn by the twelve-time All-Star and ten-time Silver Slugger Award winner as a member of the Dodgers' double-A affiliate San Antonio Missions, just before he would make the jump to the Bigs and earn 1993 Rookie of the Year honors. Blue and yellow tackle twill forms a scripted "Missions" on the chest of the knit gamer, with number "33" applied in the same tackle twill to verso. A memorial patch reading "C E S" is applied to the left sleeve, and the "Rawlings [size] 44" label in the tail attests to Piazza's slimmer rookie-era build. Solid wear. LOA from Lou Lampson.
