Description

1989 Rickey Henderson Game Worn Jersey, Rare Variation. One of several baseball legends (along with Willie Mays, Barry Bonds and Walter Alston) associated exclusively with the number "24," the 2009 Hall of Fame inductee was forced to make due with number "22" for a couple weeks following his trade from the Yankees to the Oakland A's before he could convince catcher Ron Hassey to free up his lucky digits. This is the only number "22" Henderson jersey we've ever encountered, exhibiting properly minimal wear from those few games following the June 21 trade from the Bronx. "Athletics 22" is applied to chest in green and yellow tackle twill, with "Henderson 22" on verso. Team logo elephant patch is applied to left sleeve. Interior left front tail holds "Rawlings [size] 42" label with "Set 1 1989" flap tag. Sourced directly from the Athletics clubhouse with the original collector's letter of provenance. LOA from Lou Lampson.
