Description
Late 1920's Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball. In the century since George Herman Ruth first stepped onto a Major League diamond, the popularity of the greatest player and personality of all-time has never diminished. Ruth has always been in demand. As a young player with the Red Sox, a larger than life star with the Yankees, ageing legend with the Braves and Dodgers, and dying icon in his final years, Ruth was always pursued for autographs. After he passed, these keepsakes were cherished in families for decades, each with their own accompanying tale of how and where the prize was obtained. The lot on offer here today was signed by Ruth at the height of his powers and fame, during the Roaring Twenties, and is accompanied by a letter of provenance from the consignor explaining the circumstances of its creation and preservation.
"This baseball has been in our family for over eighty years. An uncle of my father...took the baseball to a game, probably in Cleveland, Ohio, in the late 1920's, and had it signed by Ruth after the game."
"Tober Suburban League" sphere displays The Sultan of Swat across the sweet spot in black ink. "Babe" reports in lighter than "Ruth," earning an overall grade of 6/10. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
