Description

1914-15 Tris Speaker Team Index Bat, Game Used. Highly collectible Hillerich & Bradsby oddity is a style that saw limited use in the Majors, though the spotty pre-1920 factory records make definitive attribution to the Grey Eagle an impossibility. The signature model 40K does have the heft (forty-two ounces) and length (thirty-four inches) of Speaker's early models, however, and the heavy use, with grain checking and scattered ball marks, would match well with the Hall of Famer's productivity. It should be noted that players from Honus Wagner to Joe Sewell to Babe Ruth did experiment with this style. Cork handle remains seventy-five percent intact, a factor that alone makes this an appealing find for vintage collectors. Is it a genuine Speaker gamer? That's a mystery wrapped in a riddle wrapped in cork. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 6.
