Description

1988-89 Patrick Ewing Game Worn New York Knicks Sneakers.

Update: This lot includes a Letter of Opinion from MEARS.

In 1988, Patrick Ewing became the first professional basketball player to have his own shoe company when he founded Ewing Athletics. The first model from his new company was the often overlooked Rebound, which is offered here.

Displays white leather uppers with blue fabric ankle cuffs with Ewing facsimiles, orange eyelets and trim, white/blue midsoles, and blue outersoles. Most interesting of all is the distributor's name ("Phoenix") and logo on the backs and sides, respectively. Also, the outer tongues report a tag with the Phoenix logo and "Ewing." Meanwhile, interior tagging confirms a size of "13 1/2." The sides of each sneaker are signed and inscribed Patrick Ewing #33" in 9/10 vintage light blue marker.

Exhibit nice wear but remain in superb condition. For the style match, see Getty Images 88668036. Letter of Opinion from MEARS. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
