Description

1984-85 Michael Jordan (Rookie) Original Photograph by Carl Sissac, PSA/DNA Type 1. Chicago was a virtual wasteland for basketball talent until Michael Jordan showed up. Sparse crowds and lackluster play were the norm for those who witnessed the team's games. Jordan arrived and things changed in a hurry. While Jordan was photographed at all stages of his career, original images dating from his rookie campaign of 1984-85 are some of the most highly prized.

Jordan is captured in full elevation, tongue out, soaring for a dunk in his black-and-red Air Jordan 1s, post the NBA ban, wearing a clearly visible Bulls jersey. The backdrop features a dynamic in-game cameo from Julius "Dr. J" Erving, along with Clint Richardson and Clemon Johnson. While many images from his debut season have surfaced over the years, few offer this combination of visual appeal, historical significance, and photographic rarity. The 8x10" photograph was snapped by team photographer Carl Sissac and has his stamp on the reverse. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1.
