Description

1940's George Mikan Signed & Inscribed Original Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1--Image Used for 1948 Bowman Rookie! It's the most recognizable image on the planet of this early hardcourt Hall of Famer, a distinction earned through its use by the Bowman company for his legendary rookie card. The Sporting News likewise featured the shot for many years in its NBA Register. Intriguingly, Mikan wears a number "21" jersey here rather than his iconic double-nines, suggesting the shot was taken soon after his arrival from the Chicago American Gears in 1947.

The image is inscribed and signed "To Syd and Bob, Two of the nicest people I know--In friendship always, George L. Mikan," large and bold in 9/10 blue felt-tip.

To give you an idea how dominant Mikan was in his time, his teams won the league title in seven of his eight professional seasons. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1.
