Description

Signed 1969 Topps Mickey Mantle (Last Name In White) #500 PSA Good 2, PSA/DNA Auto 10. This card comes from the season that never was for Mickey Mantle. His last contemporary card, the 1969 Topps #500 was released shortly after Mickey made his retirement announcement on March 1, 1969. A prolific switch-hitting slugger with 536 round-trippers to his credit, Mantle suffered a slew of injuries (most notably to his right knee) that forced him to retire at age 37. Known for both his power and speed (153 stolen bases), Mantle was a three-time AL MVP who led the Yankees to seven World Series titles during his tenure in pinstripes.

The offered card #500 from the '69 Topps set is one of the specimens showing his last name in white letters, which are considered more scarce than the yellow letter variations of the same card. The card is found in Good condition with an added bonus: Mantle's prized signature! Mickey signed the front of the card vertically up the right side in bold blue marker. Graded PSA Good 2 with a certified autograph graded PSA/DNA Auto 10. According to the PSA Pop Report, this is the only autographed card graded GOOD with seven rated higher.
