1961 New York Yankees Roger Maris 61st Home Run Ticket Stub, PSA Authentic. In 1961, Roger Maris had a historic and pressure-filled season as he chased and ultimately broke Babe Ruth's long-standing single-season home run record. Playing for the New York Yankees, Maris hit 61 home runs, setting a new MLB record despite intense media scrutiny and fan favoritism toward teammate Mickey Mantle, who was also in the home run race. Maris maintained his focus amid the stress, earning his second consecutive American League MVP award and helping lead the Yankees to a World Series title. His achievement was initially met with controversy, including an asterisk debate due to the longer season, but it has since been recognized as one of the greatest accomplishments in baseball history.Offered is a ticket stub used to view the game in which Maris launched home run No. 61 (Oct. 1, 1961).
