Description

1954 Joe Cronin Spring Training Worn Boston Red Sox Coaching Uniform. Hall of Fame flannel is ordinarily the sole domain of the millionaire collector, so we're pleased to offer a rare exception to that rule in the form of a full road grey ensemble from a man who spent eleven of his twenty playing seasons in a virtually identical uniform. Cronin was in his late forties when he ventured down to Florida to help coach up his old teammate Ted Williams and the rest of the BoSox.

The jersey features a navy blue felt "Boston" across the chest and Cronin's now-retired number "4," on verso. Lower left front tail is embroidered "Cronin 54," framing a "Tim McAuliffe Inc." label with "Dry Clean Only" secondary label. No size labeling, but this is a big jersey, about twenty-five inches (25") from pit to pit. Matching pants are tagged, "Tim McAuliffe [size] 48" with a "Dry Clean Only" label, a "52" year swatch and "Joe Cronin" embroidered directly into the interior waistband. Each garment exhibits moderate wear with light age-toning, but no flaws of real distraction. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
