1964 Willie McCovey Game Worn & Signed San Francisco Giants Jersey - Photo Matched! The 1959 National League Rookie of the Year and 1962 National League Champion was still on the upswing of his Hall of Fame career when he donned this home white jersey in the Candlestick Park outfield he shared with another 500 Home Run Club legend with the same first name. This is a lighter weight cotton blend fashioned for warmer weather so the state of preservation is excellent, although game wear is still nonetheless plainly evident. The experts at End-to-End Photo Match have definitively linked the garment to a March 20, 1965 spring training contest, most likely snapped at their Cactus League home base in Phoenix.The time-tested Old English "Giants" spans the chest in black felt on orange tackle twill, with that same blend forming the storied double-fours on verso. We must note there is some minor stitch separation at the rear numerals, but this affects less than ten percent of the perimeter of those numbers. Interior collar bears perfect "McCovey" embroidered swatch, while lower left front tail reveals "Tim McAuliffe" label with "64" year and "46" size subtags. A bold black sharpie inscription on lower chest reads, "To Bob Silva, Best Wishes, Willie McCovey #44." A visually striking garment with enormous collecting appeal. LOA from End-to-End Photo Match.
