Description

1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #160 PSA NM 7. Just a quick perusal of the MLB record books and you'll see why New York Yankees legendary first baseman Lou Gehrig was such an admired player. He was easily one of the most productive batters of his era. When he was forced to retire in 1939 due to declining health, he had hit 493 home runs (including 23 grand slams), driven in 1,995 runs, and recorded a lifetime batting average of .340 over 17 seasons. If not for contracting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at 35, which forced his premature retirement and took his life two years later, he most certainly would have become a 500 Home Run Club member. All these years later, he still holds the American League mark for most runs batted in during a single season with 185 (1931).

Offered is a 1933 Goudey card that captures Gehrig starting to swing at an incoming pitch. He almost appears ready to launch it far and high. This example of card #160 from the '33 Goudey set is found in Near Mint condition with great color, pretty good centering, four solid corners and a clean reverse that looks like it was just printed yesterday. Graded PSA NM 7.
