Description

1957 Topps Roberto Clemente #76 PSA NM-MT 8. When it comes to heroes, longtime Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder Roberto Clemente certainly fits the bill. He was not only a superior player with 12 Gold Gloves and 3,000 hits, he was also a great humanitarian who tried to set a good example throughout his life. He was a humble sort who lost his life at age 38, in the twilight of his MLB career, during a mission to assist earthquake survivors in Nicaragua. While traveling in an overloaded plane with much-needed supplies on the final day of 1972, Clemente was one of five people on board when it crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. There were no survivors. Offered is a 1957 Topps card that shows the Steel City favorite up close. This example of card #76 from the '57 Topps set is found in high-grade fashion with rich color, clean borders, four sharp corners and a flawless reverse. Graded PSA NM-MT 8.
