1977-78 Robert Newhouse Game Worn Dallas Cowboys Jersey Photo Matched to Super Bowl XII vs. the Denver Broncos with 12 Repairs--First Touchdown Pass by a Running Back in a Super Bowl!

"Physically speaking, he didn't look like an NFL player. He was more like a chunk of granite. First there were the thighs, which were bigger than my waist. I couldn't wrap my arms around his thighs in practice. I just couldn't. You had to pick a thigh and try tackling him that way." -- Charlie Waters

When most people hear the name Robert Newhouse, they think of a man with unreal forty-four-inch thighs. What is often forgotten is that The House finished his collegiate career as the University of Houston's all-time leading rusher, led the Cowboys in rushing with 930 yards in 1975, blocked Tony Dorsett to six 1,000-yard rushing seasons and was a key component to Dallas' 1977 Super Bowl championship season. Here we present the ultimate House jersey, worn by one of the Cowboys' most beloved players during one of the franchise's most memorable seasons.

White mesh jersey with nylon durene sleeves displays "44" on the front, back and shoulders with "Newhouse" on a verso mesh nameplate, all applied in blue heat transferred applique. Other design elements include embedded black and blue striping accentuating the sleeves. Tagging includes a "Southland Athletic Mfg. Co," label in the collar with a "Size 46" flap tag below.

The garment exhibits evidence of incredible season-long wear, including at least twelve significant team repairs on the upper right chest, left chest (two), front tail, left shoulder, left sleeve, right sleeve, back collar, above nameplate and bordering the verso numerals (two). The longest measures six and a half inches! Other signs of game action wear include blue and red paint transfers on the left shoulders/sleeve and upper left back, hit marks on the shoulders and back, scattered fabric snags and what appears to be blood stains below the front identifiers.

Best of all, the jersey has been conclusively photo matched to the crowning achievement of the 1977 Dallas Cowboys season and Robert Newhouse's esteemed career--Super Bowl XII on January 15, 1978 when the Cowboys decisively defeated the Denver Broncos 27-10. In that game, The House rushed for fifty-five yards and blocked Tony D to another sixty-six rushing yards. And with the Dallas leading 20-10 in the fourth quarter and driving, Landry called "Brown right formation, X-opposite shift, toss 38, halfback lead, fullback pass to Y" and Newhouse threw a twenty-nine-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Golden Richards to put the icing on the cake!
