1913-15 W530 Pinkerton Honus Wagner (Blank Back) #872 SGC VG 3 - Pop One, None Higher! The Pinkerton name gets your attention. The brand is beautifully represented by the high quality T5 cabinet photos and promotions of real-photo cards, post cards and score cards. Pinkerton also means scarcity. Each promotion brings collectors nothing short of a treasured addition to their collections. Our offered card saw circulation from the 1913-1915 era and has been designated W530 by the "American Card Catalog." Cards can be found with a post card format back, a score card format back and, as our example shows, completely blank. A full checklist is still unknown. Offered is card #872 featuring a classic batting pose of baseball legend Honus Wagner. A wonderfully composed horizontal portrait where you can just feel the wind from his swing as Honus belts out one of his 3,420 hits.Graded SGC VG 3. Up for auction for the first time, our offered example shows very modest faults. There are no immediately seen creases. As a matter of fact, there are no creases except for one right at the lower left corner more easily seen from the reverse. The final SGC grade certainly might seem a little conservative to some. Visual appeal is far more impressive than the technical. Accounting for all three back formats, there are only five confirmed blank backs on the SGC census. In an auction held in May 2023, Heritage Sports sold a lesser condition example for $11,000 with the description ending, "There is one - a lone VG 3 - rated higher." Here we present that still stand-alone VG 3 with none higher.
