Description

One of the most important Jordan photographs that exists!

1984 Michael Jordan NBA Debut Chicago Sun-Times News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. You've seen no shortage of photography from his last game in a Chicago Bulls uniform, Michael Jordan letting it fly against a backdrop of crestfallen Utahns and a game clock nearly drained of its contents. But we suspect this is the first image you've seen from the other end of that peerless Windy City reign, snapped by a photographer for the Chicago Sun-Times on October 26, 1984 as Dean Smith's pride and joy made his NBA debut.

Jordan drives up the court leading teammate Sidney Green and Washington Bullets small forward Charles Davis, thoroughbred-lean and mouth agape in his trademark expression of concentration and determination. The photograph is printed to 8x10" dimensions, with small strips of editorial tape at the side borders but not a single wrinkle or stain daring to set foot upon the image itself.

Flip the photograph over and the thrills continue, with the original paper slug dated "10/26/84" and typed caption, "Bulls win: Sensational Bull's (sic) rookie Michael Jordan leads the Bulls attack up the court. 21 is Sidney Green." Taped just above is the caption clipped from the newspaper where it ran, assuring that this was the image selected for distribution to Chicago Sun-Times subscribers. The photographer is identified as 1968 Chicago Press Photographer of the Year Don Bierman. Various editorial markings appear nearby. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1.
