Description

Historic span contains A.L. Championship, MVP Award, Triple Crown & batting title!

1946-48 Ted Williams Game Used & Signed Bat, PSA/DNA GU 10. Returning from World War II service in 1946, Ted Williams wasted no time reasserting his talent. That season, he led the American League in runs (142), walks (156), on-base percentage (.497), and slugging (.667). His performance powered the Red Sox to the AL pennant-their first since 1918. Although they fell to the Cardinals in a seven-game World Series, Williams would receive as a consolation prize his first of two MVP Awards.

In 1947, Williams achieved one of the sport's rarest feats--the Triple Crown. He led the league with a .343 batting average, 32 home runs, and 114 RBIs. Despite this, he finished second in MVP voting in a controversial decision. Still, the Triple Crown underlined his all-around offensive dominance.

In 1948, Williams again captured the American League batting title with a .369 average, leading the league in OBP (.497) and OPS (1.112). He narrowly missed a second Triple Crown, finishing second in both home runs and RBIs.

The three-season production span of the subject signature model Hillerich & Bradsby W148 assures that some portion of those glorious achievements is memorialized in the battered surface of the barrel where, common to the best of Williams gamers, the ball marks and stitch impressions are heavily clustered right in the heart of the hitting surface. Handle is cracked with vintage nail repairs, and a small chip is missing from the knob. Length is thirty-five inches (35"), weight thirty-two and a half ounces (32.6 oz.). Black sharpie signature on barrel is 9/10.

The bat derives from the personal collection of American League pitcher Ned Garver, whose notarized letter of provenance attesting to receiving the bat from Williams personally is included. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 10. Letter of provenance from Ned Garver. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services.
