Description

As good as it gets...

Circa 1940 Babe Ruth Signed Photograph, PSA/DNA Gem Mint 10. The image is a familiar one, but the grade most assuredly is not. The greatest figure in the history of our national pastime laid pen to photograph thousands of times during his three and a half decades of fame, but only the tiniest handful of signed photos could match the offered specimen in quality. The blue fountain pen ink with which the aging slugger wrote, "Sincerely, Babe Ruth" earns every point of its perfect rating from the discerning experts at PSA/DNA, an inscription so bold it virtually shouts.

A closer inspection of the image itself provides its own share of intrigue. Check the upper edge of the image and you'll spot the kind of patriotic bunting utilized only for special events, most notably Opening Days and World Series. And while this is clearly a batting practice image, given the array of photographers who stand on the field in the background, it's clear that every human in the stands has his eyes glued to the subject. Over eight decades after this image was captured, not much has changed in that regard, as this photo will command the attention of even the most jaded of Ruth autograph collectors. The 10x8" photograph exhibits a couple light bends near the lower border, well clear of the image and autograph, but it presents as NRMT as these bends are only visible in raking light. Both numerically and objectively, this is one of the finest Ruth signed photos in the hobby. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Gem Mint 10. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
