Description

Historic hardware from the Ohio State Buckeyes' star halfback

1950 Heisman Trophy Winner's Ring Presented to Vic Janowicz. The epitome of the complete player, Janowicz was praised by legendary Buckeyes head coach Woody Hayes as "not only a great runner, but he also passed, was a placekicker and punter, played safety on defense and was an outstanding blocker." He was a junior when he earned college athletics' most heralded award, but there's little hope for collectors to every lay hands upon that bronze beauty.

Instead, the devout Buckeye collector will have to satisfy himself with this impressive relic, a ring presented to Janowicz some years after that glorious 1950 campaign, which is accompanied by a letter letter of provenance signed by Janowicz. A figural trophy is set at center of a field of genuine diamonds on the ring face, with "Heisman Memorial Trophy" standing in bold block lettering at the perimeter. Left shank reports, "Downtown Athletic Club of New York, Founded 1928," while right identifies the recipient by surname and school above another image of the fabled trophy and the words, "The Heisman, Since 1935."

Interior band is stamped "HJ 14K" and measures to a size eleven and a half (11.5). Total weight is forty-two grams (42 g.). Minimal wear evident. Original hinged wooden display box is included. Letter of provenance from Vic Janowicz.
