1888 G28 Allen & Ginter "Wild Animals of the World (N25) Tobacco Banner. Zoos today are amazing places where kids - both the young and young at heart - can indulge our fascination with the animal kingdom has to offer. Allen & Ginter issued numerous sets of cards based on animals and birds, even chickens but none conjured as much wonder. "Wild Animals of The World" is announced across the top. Circling the perimeter are the fifty cards exposing kids to finely detail illustration of lions, rhinos, elephants, monkeys, gorillas, zebras, giraffes and many more that in some small town areas kids may have never seen before. Moving lower down one finds out these cards were found in Allen & Ginter Richmond Straight Cut No. 1 and Virginia Brights Cigarettes along with the home of A&G - Richmond Virginia. In the center of all of this is a stunning illustration portrait of a Tiger in glorious color and the finest lithographic quality. The banner has been professionally mounted and has been trimmed to its current size of approx. 20" x 27-1/2." There is some minor creasing edge chipping and brief tears. There are noticeable pieces missing at thee corners and along the bottom edge in addition to the trimming. A truly classic piece and one that could very possibly be one of only a handful to survive. Overall dimensions are 23" x 32."
