Description

1880's Alexander Cartwright Signed Document, PSA/DNA Auto 7. After he helped create the game of baseball, Alexander Cartwright headed to California for the gold rush in 1849 and soon after he relocated to Hawaii where he would spend the last four decades of his life. While in The Aloha State, the father of baseball was appointed chief engineer of Honolulu's new fire department, served as Wells Fargo 's Honolulu express agent and was an advisor to King Kamehameha and Queen Emma.

The presented one-page handwritten document dates from Cartwright's tenure as a "General Agent" in Hawaii. "Office of Alexander J. Cartwright. No. 3 Kaahumanu St., Honolulu" appears at the top and is signed by Daddy Baseball at the bottom. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
