Description

1971 "Ascot Piggot" Hand-Colored Etching by LeRoy Neiman. The subject is Lester Piggott, nicknamed "The Long Fellow" and considered by many to be the best flat jockey of his generation with more than 4,000 victories. This appears to be the second of a special highly-limited edition of two hand-colored examples of Neiman's etching. The style is somewhat of a departure for Neiman, hinting at influences from Salvador Dali, perhaps. Image size is 20x23.5", while the paper itself is 26x37". Neiman signs in pencil at lower right. Some apparent wear to edges of paper, but the image could be matted to a NRMT appearance.
