This offering is part of the collection of John "Jack" Dunmire: baseball fan, small-town business owner and U.S Army veteran. He was 11 years old in 1933 when he collected these Goudey Indian Gum cards. They were loved and studied, but at some point in the next years they went into a box, and have remained in the family ever since. In early 1942 Jack joined the Army and served in the South Pacific for the duration of World War II. When discharged, he married a hometown girl, assumed the reins of his father’s furniture store, raised two children, and enjoyed a quiet life in the western Pennsylvania town where he grew up. On summer nights, he could be found sitting on his front porch steps with an Iron City beer, listening to Bob Prince call the Pirates game on the radio.
