1954-73 Al Kaline Signed Detroit Tigers Player Contracts & Original News Photograph Lot of 20 from The Al Kaline Collection. History and the collectibles market have always had a soft spot for firsts and lasts, particularly when that which comes in the middle is exceptional. Presented are the opening, middle and closing chapters to one of the most exceptional careers in Major League Baseball, the very documents that kept an eighteen-year-old phenom in the Tigers fold for twenty-two memorable seasons, until he was thirty-nine.He signed his first contract for $1,000 per month and his last for $103,000 per year. And one season, Kaline had famously returned a contract saying that he wasn't worth that much. Kaline's stat lines and personal constitution earned him baseball immortality and a home in the hearts and minds of teammates and fans. Few players have ever been as consistently brilliant and eternally beloved as Kaline.

Ink autographs grade overall 9/10 in strength. Original storage folds but no other issues of note. This lot also includes an original news photo (8x5.5") of Kaline holding his 1964 contract. Letter of provenance from Mark Kaline. Pre-Certified by Beckett Authentication Services. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (for 5 contracts). Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
