Description

1945 Chicago Cubs Pennant. The 1945 Chicago Cubs had a strong and memorable season, finishing with a 98-56 record and winning the National League pennant, their first since 1938. Led by stars like Phil Cavarretta, who won the NL MVP, and a solid pitching staff featuring Claude Passeau and Hank Borowy, the Cubs were a balanced and resilient team. They faced the Detroit Tigers in the World Series, a hard-fought seven-game series that ultimately saw the Cubs fall short. This season became historically significant, as it marked the Cubs' last World Series appearance until 2016. The 1945 team is also famously associated with the beginning of the "Curse of the Billy Goat," a superstition that haunted the franchise for decades.

The offered attractive and rare 1945 pennant is the first such example we have come across. 27-inches long and 10-inches in height. Very good condition with all four original tassels, has general wear from age with minimal tack holes and some graphic breakage present.
