Philadelphia Gum broke the Topps football card monopoly in 1964 with what would prove to be the first of four annual 198-card sets of featuring players from the National Football League. Unopened packs from any of the Philadelphia editions are encountered on a very limited basis. Unopened boxes are very scarce. The set includes stars & Hall of Famers like Jim Brown, John Mackey Rookie, Bart Starr, Mick Tingelhoff Rookie, Johnny Unitas, Don Meredith, Jimmy Johnson Rookie, Mike Ditka, Bob Lilly, Willie Davis Rookie, Paul Hornung, Raymond Berry, Gary Collins Rookie, Merlin Olsen Rookie, Ernie Green Rookie, Herb Adderley Rookie, Fran Tarkenton, Frank Gifford, Y.A. Tittle, Yale Lary, Jim Taylor, Joe Schmidt, Two checklist cards plus others stars and HoFers.

Offered is a 1964 Philadelphia football wax box with 24 unopened packs! This is a first for Heritage Auctions and we could not have asked for a nicer example. Other than the right tab to the top cover which looks loose we see only very, very light wear seen on the bottom. A remarkable box and one any gridiron fan will cherish.
