Description

1976 Joe Torre Game Used Fielder's Glove. Rawlings DCT-P model first baseman's glove was worn by the 1971 N.L. MVP and future Hall of Famer during the 1976 season when he hit .306 for the Mets.

Constructed of top grade tanned "Heart of the Hide" steer hide bound with tanned rawhide laces and nylon stitching, the glove features a pro-style two-piece V-Anchored web, "Double Ca-Thud Pocket," and and an adjustable fleece-lined wrist strap. There is a red silk Rawlings label on the back of the finger sleeves and a circular "R" logo on the back of the thumb. Furthermore, the glove displays outstanding game wear and Torre's "9" appears twice in faded black marker.

This lot comes with a detailed letter of authenticity from premier glove expert Dennis Eskin, a letter of provenance from the consignor (which states that Torre presented him with the glove at Shea Stadium in 1976), and a photo of the consignor with Torre at Shea Stadium in 1976. Letter of provenance from the consignor. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
