1910-11 Sweet Caporal Postcards Marty Walsh #11 SGC 20 Fair 1.5. This extremely rare series of real photo post cards showcased 45 different "Prominent Canadian Hockey Players" for "Sweet Caporal Cigarettes." Clearly marked "Printed in Britain" the cards were believed to have had very limited distribution being sold only in larger, more expensive containers of tobacco or on a per carton basis. Our research also has found that each of the players depicted was given a set of the postcards. Postcard #11 shows Marty Walsh, a forward with a brief 5-year career, all with the Ottawa Senators, but he made the most of it. During that quick span he helped his team to three consecutive Stanley Cup titles, winning in 1909, 1910 and 1911. The reverse side of this rarity has issues with border staining and areas of surface loss. The obverse presents at the excellent+ level. Graded SGC 20 Fair 1.5.
