2017-18 Lonzo Ball Game Worn Los Angeles Lakers Rookie Jersey - Photo Matched to 11/2 vs. Trail Blazers.Aside from being one of only two game specimens from this electrifying 20-year-old-rookie to be offered for public sale (NBA Auctions sold the jersey he wore in his NBA debut for over $55,000), this jersey also represents three important firsts.
1) The jersey was worn early in the rookie season (eighth game) of one of the most talked about new comers in recent memory. Lonzo Ball represents an oddity of sorts in today's NBA; a return to the pass-first point guard. Chosen with second overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, his phenomenal passing skills showcase quick outlet passes to the wings, exacting full court passes over slow recovering defenses, and precision drop passes into the post.
2) The 2017-18 season was the first time that NBA teams introduced jersey sponsorship deals (reportedly worth between five to twenty million dollars), with sponsorship logos appearing directly on player uniforms.
3) Nike became the exclusive uniform provider of the NBA in 2017-18 (a deal that was first announced in 2015), introducing the Nike Vapor line; the most state-of-the-art basketball uniforms to date.
Lonzo Ball's home white Los Angeles Lakers jersey features Nike Vapor's basketball specific AeroSwift technology which combines lightweight, breathable, non-cling knit and mesh fabrics to keep players cool, dry and mobile. Focused on movement, theromoregulation and fit, Nike's designs are the lightest, sleekest, and most streamlined jerseys ever seen on a basketball court, thereby meeting all of the performance demands of today's players.
"Lakers 2" is sewn on the front of the jersey in purple and gold, above which reside the Nike swoosh logo and "wish" sponsorship logo patch. "Ball 2" is sewn on the verso in purple and gold, with the NBA logo directly above and "16" in gold on the back neckline, commemorating the franchise's NBA titles to date.
Nike tagging in the tail includes a "LALW 00741" inventory tag, "46" size tag, and "Length +2" flap tag. Importantly, "11-2-17" is penned in black sharpie at the bottom of the size tag, denoting the game in which the jersey was worn.
