Description

With letter of provenance from Robinson himself!

1966 Baltimore Orioles World Series Championship Ring Presented to Brooks Robinson. A Triple Crown performance from the other Robinson denied Brooks the distinction of repeating as the Most Valuable Player of the American League in 1966, but the Hall of Fame third baseman was happy to forgo that bit of hardware for the one that is proudly presented here, representing the first World Championship realization for both the franchise and the presentee. With Boog Powell and both Robinsons contributing triple-figure RBI tallies, and Palmer and McNally forming the core of what would become the most dominant pitching rotation of the last half century, the Orioles cruised to the pennant by a nine-game margin before sending Sandy Koufax into retirement with a four-game World Series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. It would prove to be the start of the most protracted era of success in Baltimore history.

But few artifacts from that special age enjoy the heft of significance that the presented ring supplies. The fourteen karat (14K) white gold beauty reports its supreme relevance in raised lettering on the ring face that reads, "Baltimore Orioles World Champions," skirting the edge of a large onyx that has been chipped through years of proud wear. A large genuine diamond is inset at center.

Left shank offers an array of baseball imagery with text reporting "Orioles 1966." Right shank supplies the historic player attribution, "B. Robinson, 5," the text surrounding imagery of a fielding glove, a theme that seems all the more fitting when considering that the ring dates to the seventh of Robinson's sixteen consecutive Gold Glove seasons. Interior band is engraved "Official" and measures to a size ten and a half (10.5). Weight is twenty-seven grams (27 g.). Letter of provenance from Brooks Robinson.
