1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Eddie Plank (Blank Back) Rookie SGC Poor 1. Nestled between the N300 Mayos of 1895 and the dawn of the golden age of 20th Century cards which began began in 1909 are the E107 Breisch-Williams cards from 1903. They are as compelling as they are they are fragile. The roster is comprehensive. Because of when they appeared, the E107 set boasts stars of both the 19th and 20th Century periods. The Black & White style is the perfect choice allowing the formal portraits, almost all the work of Carl Horner, with card card after card allowed to take centerstage.Our offered card features Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank of the Philadelphia Athletics. Plank was a durable lefty who made his debut in 1901 making this his rookie card debut. Upon retirement, Eddie would be the first lefty in baseball history to win 200, then 300 games. His 326 victories ranks him third on the all-time list for left-handed pitchers. This iconic image would be the basis for "Gettysburg" Eddie's E95 Philadelphia Caramel, E104 Nadja cards and his renowned T206 entry. There is obvious soiling, creasing, corner wear and reverse paper loss. Graded SGC Poor 1. This example is one of only four confirmed blank backs on the SGC census. None have rated higher as all four have graded Poor. Plank is a key subject one of the most historically significant tobacco and candy productions in the hobby.
