Description

1976 Muhammad Ali Fight Worn Shoes from Ken Norton III Bout. In his younger years, Muhammad Ali could turn his feet into a dancing blur, a "Shuffle" that instantly evokes the master in his prime. But at this late stage in his career, the provided "Adidas" brand boots served instead as the firm foundation of unbreakable will, recalling a period of that peerless career that found the Champion redefining his own greatness. The black trim on white format is the perfect complement to Ali's celebrated style, each marked size "13" inside, and bearing a bold markered "Ali."

Clear fight wear is evident from the last ever bout at "The House that Ruth Built," as are the signs of decades of storage. Like the trunks that likewise appear within this auction, the shoes derive from the personal collection of Ali's cornerman and close confidant Wali "Blood" Muhammad. Two letters of provenance supply ironclad assurance of authenticity. The first pictures Wali Muhammad posing with the boots, and is signed by both Muhammad and Jackson. The second is a notarized letter of provenance from Jackson alone. Letter of provenance from Wali Muhammad & Steve Jackson. Notarized letter of provenance from Steve Jackson. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
