1910 T209 Contentnea Cigarettes Series Two Souvenir Baseball Album. The rarest tobacco card item on the planet? It's a clear contender. At a known population of just three, this remarkable album emerges from more than a century of Deep Southern slumber to document a subsect of our national pastime nearly forgotten today. Many of us have encountered examples of the 1910 T206 Series Two trading card issue--224 subjects from the Virginia League, Eastern League and Carolina Association--but the large size of the roster and the intense rarity of its components have rendered comprehensive set-building a near-futile objective.

But here we find each and every subject on its twenty printed pages, each remaining bound between green heavy stock paper covers bound with original black string. Eighteen teams in total are represented. The creation echoes the Allen & Ginter creations of the late 19th century, but even those coveted rarities seem downright common by comparison.

An article in "Old Cardboard" magazine has established that the unusual image on the opening page of a mysterious non-player named "B.E. Wilson," dressed as Uncle Sam, was actually a redemption card which could be mailed to the company's Wilson, North Carolina headquarters in trade for this album. Certainly this highly-limited distribution format provides some insight into the album's intense rarity today.

Soiling of the exterior covers and a diagonal bend at upper left quadrant represent the bulk of condition issues, and just a hint of damp-staining affects the upper right corners of the opening several pages. It should go without saying that these minor stumbles are rendered moot for any item of this scarcity. Dimensons of cover are 11x9".
