1930s Walter Johnson Vintage Photograph, PSA/DNA IV. Walter Johnson was one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, known for his incredible fastball and dominance during the early 20th century. Playing his entire 21-season career (1907-1927) with the Washington Senators, he won 417 games-second most in MLB history-and struck out 3,509 batters, a record that stood for over 50 years. Nicknamed "The Big Train," Johnson combined velocity with control and sportsmanship, earning widespread respect. He won two MVP awards and led the Senators to their only World Series title in 1924. Johnson was an inaugural Hall of Fame inductee in 1936.
