Billy Williams Single Signed Baseball. Billy Williams was a smooth-swinging left-handed outfielder best known for his time with the Chicago Cubs from 1959 to 1974. Renowned for his consistency, durability, and elegant hitting, he compiled 2,711 hits, 426 home runs, and a .290 career batting average. Williams was the 1961 National League Rookie of the Year, a 6-time All-Star, and won the NL batting title in 1972. Nicknamed "Sweet Swingin' Billy from Whistler", he also set a National League record at the time with 1,117 consecutive games played, showcasing his dependability. Though the Cubs never reached the postseason during his tenure, Williams was a beloved figure in Chicago and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.
