Description
1874-81 DeWitt's Baseball Guides Lot of 4. This highly collectible publication is one of the earliest entirely dedicated to our burgeoning National Pastime. The lot of four presented here includes exemplars from 1874 (two), 1880, and 1881. The first two volume were issued two years before the founding of the National League. The interior text is a mixture of history, rules and statistics, with all the period giants like Cap Anson, King Kelley and Jim O'Rourke mentioned. Measure 6.5x4.25" each. Expected wear is present, with light paper loss to the covers and spine and general handling wear, but the publication remain complete and solid. The overall condition of this lot is incredible when you consider that the oldest of these volumes goes back 145 years!Auction Info
