ABC's Wide World of Sports Banner. The biggest show in the United States on Saturday afternoons, pretty much throughout the 1960's, 70's, 80's, and into the 90's, ABC's Wide World of Sports was created in 1961 by Edgar Scherick. While fielding television "firsts" such as the Men's NCAA Basketball Championship (1962), The British Open (1961) and U.S. Figure Skating Championships (1962), the iconic program also fielded stars such as Evel Knievel, Muhammad Ali, Secretariat and more.Offered here is an original ABC Wide World of Sports banner that was hung at an event in the 1980's. Measuring at 6x6', it exhibits moderate cracks in the ink, but displays nicely.
