1980 Larry Holmes vs. Muhammad Ali Heavyweight Championship Program. Original program from the October 2, 1980 fight between Larry Holmes and Muhammad Ali held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. This fight saw a 39-year old Muhammad Ali come out of retirement after a little over two years away from the sport. Larry Holmes, a former sparring partner of Ali, was the current champion with a record of 35-0 and easily outpaced the former champion for ten rounds before Ali was unable to continue in the eleventh. Bottom stub is hanging from the full ticket and nearly detached. This fight served as a changing of the guard atop the heavyweight division, with Holmes going on to a very successful reign as heavyweight champion.
