1980s Billy Smith Game Worn Goalie Skates. While Billy Smith was considered one of the premier NHL goaltenders during the 1970s and early 1980s, he managed to build on his legend with some of the finest postseason performances that a netminder has ever known. The anchor for the New York Islanders dynasty of the 1980s, Smith ensured that the team would keep the Stanley Cup each year from 1980-83. Here we present a pair of Bauer goalie skates worn by Smith in the early to mid-1980s -- perhaps they were part of the epic Stanley Cup run. Presented to 1970s Black Hawks great and Chicago sports bar owner Phil Russell, these skates come with a letter to that effect, signed by Russell.
