Description

1934 Tour of Japan Team Signed Baseball with Ruth, Gehrig. Rating among the most historically significant baseball events of the pre-war era was the 1934 Tour of Japan, which served as the catalyst for the sport's burgeoning popularity in that country today. Collectors also love relics of that Tour for the iconic stature of its participants, who are documented in vintage fountain pen ink upon this shellacked "Worth Official League" ball. Inhabiting his traditional sweet spot position is Babe Ruth, with Lou Gehrig likewise in his usual position to the east. Also to be found among the fourteen legible autographs are Gehringer, Mack, Averill, Gomez, Miller, McNair, Cascarella and Ebling. Signature quality of these fourteen signatures averages 5/10, and range from 2/10 to 7/10 in boldness. The ball itself provides the rich vintage patina of milky coffee, only furthering the aesthetic appeal. An essential keepsake for the true baseball historian. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication. Guide Value or Estimate: $4,000 - $6,000.
