1948 Leaf Babe Ruth #3 BVG Good 2. The great Babe Ruth, perhaps the most recognized name in Major League Baseball history, succumbed to throat cancer the same year that this 1948 Leaf card was released. Issued 13 years after his playing days ended, the card shows an almost somber-looking Ruth looking back at the photographer. Truly serving as a global ambassador for baseball, he nearly single-handedly showcased the sport to foreign shores with his world-renowned barnstorming tours overseas. A .342 lifetime batter, Ruth was always known for being the player who launched moon shots (714 home runs) during his Hall of Fame tenure that included two teams: the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Offered is card #3 from the colorful 1948 Leaf set. The presented card exhibits great color, decent centering and a clean reverse. Graded BVG Good 2.
