Circa 1960 Jackie Robinson Single Signed Baseball, PSA/DNA Mint 9.

UPDATE: PSA/DNA does not keep an official POP Report on graded signed baseballs, however to our knowledge this is one of only three Jackie Robinson single signed baseballs graded overall Mint 9 by PSA/DNA with none higher.

Jackie Robinson's impact on baseball extends far beyond statistics-his breaking of the color barrier in 1947 fundamentally changed the sport and American society. A six-time All-Star and 1949 National League MVP, Robinson played with intensity, intelligence, and resilience, quickly becoming a symbol of progress and dignity under pressure. For collectors, Robinson's autograph holds profound historical weight, representing not only a Hall of Fame career but also a pivotal cultural legacy.

Unlike most of his legendary contemporaries of post-war Big Apple baseball, Robinson's life was cut short at a relatively young age (due to complications from diabetes and heart disease), significantly limiting the window during which he signed. By the time autograph collecting began to flourish in the 1970s and 1980s, Robinson was already gone. As a result, authentic examples-particularly single signed baseballs-are scarce and highly sought after, combining historical importance and true rarity in a way few other post-war signatures in the hobby can match.

Here we find arguably the finest of that endangered species, Robinson's side panel inscription applied with such thundering boldness that not even its elite professional assessment quite captures the majesty. The ball itself serves as a perfect medium for that masterpiece, a non-official orb as stark white as the pre-1947 Majors. PSA/DNA rates the signature 9/10 and the ball 8/10, with a half-point bump for elite aesthetics. As such, this is one of only three Jackie singles to receive an overall Mint 9 grade from PSA/DNA with none higher that has ever been offered publicly. LOA from PSA/DNA, Mint 9. Additional LOA from SGC, Auto 9.
