Frank Arellanes emerged in mid‑1908 with the Boston Red Sox and quickly made his mark, posting a 1.82 ERA in his debut season including a one‑hit victory. In 1909 he stepped into the rotation and delivered a 16‑win year with a 2.18 ERA, also leading the American League in saves (8) and games finished (15). His promising career was cut short when the Spanish Flu epidemic claimed his life at age 36 in 1918.
