The images have been staggering -- lines of cars stretching for miles as people wait for hours to collect donated meals. We have seen them over and over in recent weeks, one warning sign among many that a global pandemic has severe implications for our neighbors trying to remain safe and healthy -- and hoping not to go hungry while doing so.

This is why Heritage Auctions, the world's largest collectibles auction house, is proud to partner with the hometown pro sports teams and some of sport's biggest names and greatest players for the In This Together Charity Auction Benefitting the North Texas Food Bank. The Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars and FC Dallas have each generously donated items for this auction to fill the North Texas Food Bank's coffers during this difficult and desperate moment.

Here is why Heritage Auctions and the teams wanted to help:

  • The NTFB says it has distributed 6 million pounds of food between March 15-April 15 -- which is 1.5 million more than during the previous two months. More than 12,750 families have been served at the mobile pantries since March 15.
  • And as many people saw at Fair Park in mid-April, more than 2,220 families lined up for food. A normal day sees around 200-300 families.
  • "It is estimated that at least 50% and up to 70% of those we have served since the beginning of the pandemic are new clients at our partner agency locations," according to the NTFB. "Some agencies reporting as much as 376% increase in demand year over year."

Chris began working at Heritage Auctions in 2000 after serving as a professional grader with Sportscard Guaranty Corporation (SGC) in New Jersey. He was the driving force behind the inception of the Sports auction division in 2003 and under his management Heritage Sports has grown significantly each year to become the largest sports auction house in the world with over million in annual sales.

Chris has orchestrated the auction of some of the most important athlete collections in the industry including The Lou Gehrig Collection, The Walter Johnson Collection, The Jim Thorpe Collection, The James Naismith Collection, The Mike Eruzione Collection, The Sam Snead Collection, The Stan Musial Collection, and The Brooks Robinson Collection.

In 2012, he supervised the marketing and sale of the most significant baseball card find in the history of sportscard collecting. Known as The Black Swamp Find, it included hundreds of 1910 E98 baseball cards, discovered by a Defiance, Ohio family while cleaning out a relative’s attic. The sale of The Black Swamp Find collection continues today and to date has brought over two and a half million in total sales.

Chris is recognized as a nationally respected expert in the industry with appearances on NBC's Today Show, CNN, ESPN, FOX News, and hundreds of print media outlets including The New York Times, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, and The Associated Press.

Today Chris continues to serve as the Director of Sports Auctions for Heritage. In his position, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations, combining vision and execution with a balance of business and collecting passion. He counsels advanced collectors to help them build some of the most significant private collections in the hobby and he also works with consignors on a daily basis to recommend the disposition of their collections in order to maximize their financial return.

Frequently asked questions

What is Heritage's return policy?

Heritage offers a three (3) day return policy for all Internet auctions (does not include Signature Auctions). Policy varies by type of Auction. See the "Additional Terms and Conditions" section of our Terms & Conditions.

Do I have to pay sales tax?

Lots delivered to you, or your representative are subject to all applicable sales/use taxes, if any, unless appropriate permits are on file with Auctioneer. Bidder agrees to pay Auctioneer the actual amount of tax due in the event that sales tax is not properly collected due to: 1) an expired, inaccurate, or inappropriate resale tax certificate and/or declaration, 2) an incorrect interpretation of the applicable statute, 3) or any other legitimate reason. The appropriate form or resale certificate must be on file at and verified by Auctioneer five days prior to Auction, or tax must be paid; only if such form or resale certificate is received by Auctioneer within 4 days after the Auction can a refund of tax paid be made. Lots from different Auctions may not be aggregated for sales tax purposes.

Heritage is required to collect sales tax in many states.

Here is a list of states where Heritage Auctions currently collects sales tax (sorted by category) or is scheduled to collect sales tax in the near future.

Heritage is not required to collect sales tax if you are buying for resale.

  1. If you are buying for resale, you can provide Heritage with your sales tax resale certificate.
  2. If you do not have a resale certificate, contact your respective state agency to see if you qualify.

If I win, how do I pay?

For expedited shipping or delivery in person, upon receipt of your invoice, please remit payment a bank wire, cashier's check or bank money order. Clients with pre-arranged credit status will receive immediate credit for payments via eCheck, personal or corporate checks. All others will be subject to a hold of 5 days, or more, for the funds to clear prior to releasing merchandise.

For your convenience, payments can be made from the MyOrders page of the HA.com website by eCheck, but allow 24-48 hours from the end of the auction for invoices to appear on this Page. For more information, by type of auction, please go to the specific category on HA.com.

What is the Buyer's Premium?

A Buyer's Premium will be added per lot to the successful bid. Minimum Buyer's Premium varies by category. Please see the individual lot page for more details.

How much will my fees, shipping, and handling be?

Our fees, shipping, and handling charges include shipping, handling and private carrier insurance. Shipping varies according to the item type, quantity, and value (for insurance purposes). Wine shipments require this Delivery Collection Form, and are subject to delays due to extreme weather. Use the Shipping Calculator on the individual Lot page to estimate shipping. Shipping cost provided is for that single item ONLY. Shipping multiple items at once almost always results in a lower shipping cost per item. Actual costs may vary depending on shipping options. If you need help, please contact us.

If I win, when will I receive my lots?

Please allow 7–14 business days to ship the items you won, unless they fall into one of the following categories: Action Figures & Toys, African Art, Animation Art, Arms & Armor, Entertainment, Ethnographic Art, Decorative Art, Design, Judaica, European Art, Fine & Decorative Arts, Movie Posters, Musical Instruments, Oceanic Art, Pre-Columbian Art, or Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass. For these categories and oversized items in other categories, please allow 14–21 business days for shipping, as they require more labor-intensive preparation. Premium Domain Transfers have a shipping window of 7–30 days. Note that your payment options can also impact shipping times. See our Terms & Conditions
