1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics Bronze Medal. One of 290 third-place metals created for this first Summer Games to be contested in neither Europe nor the United States. The design by Giuseppe Cassioli features a seated victory holding a laurel wreath and palm branch at obverse, with text announcing, "XVIth Olympiad Melbourne 1956." A shoulder-high athlete appears on reverse. Local Melbourne mint "K.G. Luke" stamp appears in small text at bottom of obverse. Sadly, the details of the original ownership have been lost.
